Assaf - creative drummer & percussionist

Jan 2nd, 2009 | By Matt | Category: Drum Videos

A remarkable percussionist and drummer, this young man captured my attention a few years ago. I would love to see him live one day. I do not know if he is a Christian or not but I can see that God has blessed him with a wonderful gift of rhythm. Enjoy the creativity of Assaf.

As more and more people find the web site through Google and Yahoo etc.., it’s great to have links from other web sites of related interest to drive traffic to the site so that more drummers can connect via the site and forum.
For that reason I have created some live feed banners using Feedburner. These [...]

Matt on the Djembe - soundcheck MP3

Dec 5th, 2008 | By Matt | Category: Matt's Blog

Hey, this is the sound clip from my warming up and sound check from the Battle of the Bands at JCC in November 2008. Just messing about really (in other words, not very tight or professional!) but I really enjoyed it! Sound changes after 2 mins after second mic is added to catch bass tones.

“The Kadena Town Festival has been going on for 27 years.  This is a secular event that celebrates the man (Noguni Soukan) who introduced the sweet potato from China during a time of famine to Okinawa over 400 years ago.  Typical attendance for both days is 25,000.
We are the only Christian group ever invited to [...]

Capturing the Heartbeat and Rhythms of God

Dec 1st, 2008 | By Matt | Category: Drum Articles

A few years ago I went through a challenging time spiritually. I heard people talking as if they knew God so well that they had Him all figured out. It was as if they could read his mind and know what He would say for any situation. They had, effectively and in my opinion, packaged [...]

Interview with Paul Evans (Delirious?)

Dec 1st, 2008 | By Matt | Category: Interviews

Paul Evans is the envy of many a drummer as he was chosen to pick up where Stew Smith (Delirious?) left off. Bringing his energy and enthusiasm and wealth of drumming experience to the table, and the news that Delirious? are set to end their chapter in the book of music, Paul is a vital [...]

Djembe demonstration at JCC Battle of the Bands

Nov 16th, 2008 | By Matt | Category: Matt's Blog

I enjoyed a few minutes of getting to show off a little bit of what the djembe can do at a Battle of the Bands contest at Jubilee Community Church on Saturday evening. It was a great evening and I am sure all enjoyed it. Peter Meade was taking photos and graciously gave me a [...]
