Matt

The new year is now upon us and The Christian Drummer web site is in its third year now. So much has changed since I started the site. Every year, I take it up a notch and do something else with it for the sake of encouraging and building up Christian drummers worldwide. So this year, I got some new ideas.

Of course, these are just ideas and whether they will be implemented or not is another story. But here they are off the top of my head and in no particular order:

  • Better t-shirts with more exposure on the site
  • Drum tabs to popular worship songs
  • Better integration with friend sites like ‘Tobosari Crestini’ and ‘Drummer For Christ’ and ‘Drummers for Jesus’
  • More resources for Christian drummers in the form of books and videos
  • Video clips from myself
  • More interviews with drummers from around the world, not just famous ones!

These are dependent on time permitting and if anyone else is happy to be a part of the site in the form of contributing articles or other resources too. I am always looking for new ideas and contributors to the site.

So, friends and drummers worldwide, welcome to 2009!

Matt

My fellow drum site in Romania has a great interview with Carl Albrecht. The page on the Tobosari Crestini site is here : http://www.tobosaricrestini.ro/?q=carlalbrecht_interview

Many thanks to Adrian Schiopu from Tobosari Crestini and also Carl Albrecht for their permission to post the interview. Continue reading »

As more and more people find the web site through Google and Yahoo etc.., it’s great to have links from other web sites of related interest to drive traffic to the site so that more drummers can connect via the site and forum.

For that reason I have created some live feed banners using Feedburner. These banners rotate through the most recent Christian Drummer headlines and click through to the feeds. I would love it if you have a web site that you could place one of the following banners on. I will gladly link back to your site (if appropriate) in thanks. You have the bonus of having live information from The Christian Drummer placed on your site and always showing the latest post headlines on your site. Banners can also be customised (by myself) to suit the colours of your site’s theme too, just ask!

I don’t get anything from this, money-wise, it’s not advertising, it’s just another way of helping people find the site and promoting the content for the encouragement of Christian drummers worldwide! It also helps me track the usefulness of the site and what articles people are reading. I’d be grateful if subscribers who have their own blogs/sites could include one of the feed banners below on their site. Thanks a million!

Choose a banner below. I have included a banner preview. To get the code to place on your web site, click the ‘Grab this Headline Animator‘ and a window will pop up. Select ‘gimme the code‘ from the drop down menu. You will be given the HTML code to place on your web site. If you need help, give me a shout.

Here are the various feed banners:

Hey, this is the sound clip from my warming up and sound check from the Battle of the Bands at JCC in November 2008. Just messing about really (in other words, not very tight or professional!) but I really enjoyed it! Sound changes after 2 mins after second mic is added to catch bass tones.

“The Kadena Town Festival has been going on for 27 years.  This is a secular event that celebrates the man (Noguni Soukan) who introduced the sweet potato from China during a time of famine to Okinawa over 400 years ago.  Typical attendance for both days is 25,000.

We are the only Christian group ever invited to participate, and they roll out the red carpet for us.  Yomitan International Church in Okinawa Japan has been given favor again!  This outreach was significant, and the timing  perfect.  This will be the 7th time we have been invited.  We have sown and planted 6 times in this field and by faith, the harvest is ripe.

This is the land of the drum used exclusively for Buddhist rituals  that glorify man and dead ancestors.  The drum is everywhere all the time, but never for God’s glory.  My family (six children and my wife) have been in Okinawa for 10 years as tent maker missionaries.  I have so many testimonies on what God is doing here in Asia, and many are from taking back the Drum for Jesus.  Our church is half Okinawain, and I play the BIG wadiako drums, congas, and djembe set up, in the church…  It has transformed our worship to new heights and levels.  We break out into prophetic drums and insane worship and warfare.  God put this vision of taking back the drum in the land of the drum about 5 yrs ago.  Next the Lord wants to use me and assemble an Okinawa christain wadiako team.  We do street outreachs sometime with up to 20 drums, actually shaking the infrastructure around us.  And strike a drum, they will come….  I will send photos and more information later.  I found your sight and purchased you cd/dvd, and when I watched your dvd, you were speaking my heart.  Gods  heart…  I thought I was the only one.  Feel free to use any thing and maybe some day we can do an Okinawa Psalm drummer event….   later and give God all the glory, with everything you got, all the time…… more later.. BROTHER DAN IN OKINAWA”
