Being in worship team is more than just keeping the beat. In fact, I started this web site because that was my conviction : there is more to being a drummer in a worship team than just keeping the beat! A proficient worship leader would expect those basic qualities in a drummer as a given. But I would think that the worship leader would expect more, and moreso in the area of sensitivity. Sensitivity in one’s playing and also spiritually. I believe they’re intricately related in the playing of a Christian drummer. Continue reading »
Hi everyone,
Apologies for the quietness on the site! There is another article coming as usual on the 1st and I have a great article on cymbals coming in November. As you may or may not know, I am living in England due to a career change and hope to be moving into a house on the 1st of October. Anita and the kids join me then a few days later – I have not seen them since I moved here on the 1st of September. It’s been crazy here trying to get things organised but I know God is my provider and my guide, my helper and my father so how can I go wrong? 
An interview with Stew Smith from Delirious is coming up shortly too, keep your eyes on this space! I will get some video clips together too from the Psalm Drummer Summer School as there was some really cool stuff there!

Has it ever happened that your worship leader has introduced a new song at your practice session (which I hope your team has!) and then expected you to play it that very next Sunday? As eager and zealous as your worship leader may be to run in the “bleeding edge” of worship, he/she may be doing more harm than good to the song and perhaps, even, the worship. Continue reading »
