WOW! That’s all I can say! From the moment I walked into the Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading, England till the moment I walked out and even after that…. WOW!

I flew in from Belfast on the Friday night and got a lift up to Reading the next morning. Entering the ‘arena’ already filled one with a sense of excitement as the professional stage setup and absolutely beautiful equipment stood there silently waiting for the rumble to begin! I just got back from “A Heart to Drum ‘07″ and all I can say is, if you weren’t there…you really missed out! So sorry!!

Anyway, this is just a post to let all subscribers know that I will be writing a full feedback post on the day and posting a whole bunch of video clips on the site and the YouTube site.

I am away for a few days on leave but will hopefully have all the good stuff for you all online soon!

On September 22nd I am hosting with friends from the Psalm Drummer network an event called ‘A Heart to Drum’ in Reading (heart2drum.com). It is the largest gathering for Christian drummers and percussionists in the UK and we’re expecting more than 1000 at it. It is also a volunteer run event in support of charity.

We’ve got an impressive line up including Zoro (Lenny Kravitz), Tommy Aldridge (Whitesnake, Ozzy), Jerry Brown (Girls Alloud), Dez Minto (YFriday), Chip Bailey (Duke Special), Nathan Fellingham (Phatfish), Christian Elliott (Hillsong), Ed Freitas (Drummerbuzz), Carlos Benson (Drummers for Jesus USA), Mike Simpson (Inspire-Works), and many more from the Psalm Drummers network. DrumWright (drum shop) from Reading will be there along with all the major drum companies we will have great resources; amazing deals on drum gear, raffles prizes (including a top brand drumset) and fun competitions too.

We want to give it a great profile, so I am writing to see if you would like to set up an interview, or do an article about it? Ideas might be: Why are Christian drummers gathering? Is drumming and Christianity compatible? I am sure you will have some good questions.

I (or one of my team) would be happy to talk about what we’re doing. In addition we are inviting the press to come to the day – so please also let me know if you would like to arrange some passes.

The truth is there are now 1000s of drummers playing in bands for church meetings each week, in front of significant audiences. There is a growing ‘worship’ movement being expressed through the cultural sound of popular music. It’s changing the perception of the church and it’s affecting the wider music industry. Drums are a key to its activity and energy.

Our statement for the day is, “Gathering drummers in unity to see the worship of a nation changed.”
