Todd Reid began his musical journey on 3 coffee cans with ballpoint pens as sticks at the age of 8. His father, also a musician, found him one day in the living room banging away at his “drums”…ink was everywhere! His father quickly figured that Todd would soon ruin the house if a set of real drums was not found.
A real set [circa 1960s Ludwig] was procured from his boss and Todd began drum lessons on his ninth birthday. Not long after that, they found a restaurant close to their house in Kettering OH, that had live jazz 4 nights a week. That did it…Todd knew right then what the rest of his life would in pursuit of!
Todd has since been very active in the jazz scene, playing with folks like Eddie Daniels, Bobby Shew, Nick Brignola, Charles McPherson, Nnenna Freelon, Roseanna Vitro, Eddie Harris, Lew Tabackin, Rickey Woodard, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Ingrid Jensen, Jon Hendricks, Richie Cole, Javon Jackson, Red Holloway, Mose Allison, Bob Dorough and a host of others.
Todd has been most gracious in granting me some of his time so I could ask him some questions about his jazz drumming, his painting and also his faith. Many thanks Todd, I hope to meet you one day in person!

Paul Evans is the envy of many a drummer as he was chosen to pick up where Stew Smith (Delirious?) left off. Bringing his energy and enthusiasm and wealth of drumming experience to the table, and the news that Delirious? are set to end their chapter in the book of music, Paul is a vital member of the band as they finish off probably one of the greatest chapters in their lives – but as the band have said, “The best is yet to come!”.
I had met Paul briefly at Heart to Drum ‘07 and saw him on stage bashing away. I was able to get hold of Paul and threw a few questions his way to gauge where he was at with his drumming in the band and his views on Christian drummers in the music business. Continue reading »
Although I have been in touch with Chris for a while now over the Net, we have yet to meet! I found his blog online and have been interested in his content ever since. He is also a drummer seeking the heartbeat of God in everything we do and sheds a bit of reality in areas where sometimes we brush over so lightly we never get to the root of it all. My first introduction to Simon Edwards was shortly after my wife and I had moved to Northern Ireland. I was trying to find other drummers in Northern Ireland that were Christians and even thought about starting up a Christian drummer group (before I knew about Psalm Drummers or The Gathering). Somehow I found The Gathering web site and was overjoyed to see that someone already had the vision to get the drummers together! Continue reading »
