My first introduction to Simon Edwards was shortly after my wife and I had moved to Northern Ireland. I was trying to find other drummers in Northern Ireland that were Christians and even thought about starting up a Christian drummer group (before I knew about Psalm Drummers or The Gathering). Somehow I found The Gathering web site and was overjoyed to see that someone already had the vision to get the drummers together! Continue reading »
Psalm Drummer teams will be involved in various UK national events throughout 2008.
We have been asked to provide 2 Psalm Drummers performance teams for the Pentecost Festival in London on 10th May performing as part of the ’street areas’. These will be in central London and may include a stage at Leicester Square! We shall also be gathering a sizeable team for the main Global Day of Prayer event which will be at Millwall Stadium, London on 11th May.
If you consider yourself a ‘Psalm Drummer’ and would like to register to join one of our teams we would love to hear from you. Email Mike Simpson (teams co-ordinator) at workshops@psalmdrummers.org
From Matt – I will be there, hope to see you all there too!

I am attending the Psalm Drummers Training & Vision Day in Nottingham this weekend. I think it will be a very fruitful time and I am looking forward to connecting with other Psalm Drummers. It’s always good getting together with other drummers as you see people with the same heart as you and the same vision and it’s encouraging!
I will be sure to post feedback on the site and if I manage to get any photos, I’ll post them too!
Feedback from the previous get-together in Carryduff on the 25th of January 2008.
As the cold air brought an icy chill to everything outside Shane’s house, all us drummers were in the lounge surrounded by various instruments and a warm fire crackling behind the grating. What an ideal setting for a drum circle, considering we had not gotten together for quite some time. It seemed fitting to begin by just making some noise really, slowly getting a groove going while each person found their voice in the circle and had their say.
After some excellent dynamics and tempo shifts, we decided to take it up a notch and try out some rhythms in different time signatures! Now there was a challenge! Trying to move the old mindset from the 4/4 and tackle the mountains of 5/4, 7/4 and even 9/4… awesome! That exercise proved to be rather enjoyable as we found polyrhythms and patterns going around and around.
Another part of our time was dedicated to some fun activities such as one person starting a rhythm, then the next person coming in and not playing the same beats but rather trying to compliment that rhythm… not easy but a lot of fun and it sounds great!
Thanks to all who came along! I had a great time and it was good too see young guys there who love God and their drums!
We hope to have ‘Gatherings’ on the first Monday of each month…I will keep you posted! Keep an eye on The Gathering page on The Christian Drummer web site.
